THE MEDIATING ROLE OF WORK MOTIVATION IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WORK ENGAGEMENT AND JOB PERFORMANCE
STUDY ON EMPLOYEES OF PT PLN INDONESIA POWER UBP SAGULING
Abstract
This study investigates the direct and indirect relationships between work engagement and job performance by considering work motivation as a potential mediator among employees of PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Saguling. A quantitative explanatory design with census sampling was employed. From 154 returned questionnaires, 146 valid responses were retained after data screening and outlier removal. Data were collected using the UWES, WEIMS, and IWPQ instruments and analyzed with PROCESS Macro Model 4 using 5,000 bootstrap samples. The findings indicate that both work engagement and work motivation positively influence job performance. However, work engagement does not significantly predict work motivation, and work motivation does not mediate the relationship between work engagement and job performance. These findings suggest that work engagement and work motivation independently contribute to employee performance in a highly regulated electricity generation environment
