THE PHENOMENON OF EMBEDDING ON NOUNS
Abstract
This research aims to describe the phenomenon of embedding in nouns. This type of research includes descriptive qualitative research. Data in the form of sentences containing noun embedding were obtained through application X and corpus. The researcher searched for data by typing keywords with the meaning of noun embedding through X application and corpus, such as the words "really", "once", and "so". After the sentences containing the words "really", "once", and "so" were obtained, the data were identified, inventoried, and then grouped based on the characteristics of the form of embedding on nouns. The results of the study show that embedding can occur in several types of nouns: basic nouns, derived nouns, and other nomina's. In the case of basic nouns, it can be classified into (1) gender nouns, (2) kinship nouns, (3) nouns of "supernatural" beings, (4) nouns of a person's name, and (5) temporal nouns. Examples (1)-(4) are animate nouns, while example (5) is an inanimate noun. Derived nouns are found in the form of repetition. All examples of repetitive noun embedding are lifeless nouns. Lastly, other noun embeddings are also found, such as (1) pro-nouns and (2) base words attached with the clitic -nya. The example of noun embedding in (1) is a living noun, while the example in (2) is a lifeless noun. From another point of view, the examples of the phenomenon of noun embedding found include adjective noun-like.
