Permintaan Pupuk Organik pada Usaha Tani Padi di Kabupaten Magelang
Demand for Organic Fertilizer of Rice Farming in Magelang Regency
Abstract
Organic fertilizer is an important production input in organic farming. This study aims to: (1) examine the level of manure fertilizer use among farmers in Sawangan Sub-district, Magelang Regency; and (2) analyze the determinants of manure fertilizer demand in organic rice farming in the area. Sawangan Sub-district was purposively selected as the study location because it is a center of organic farming in Magelang Regency. The respondents consisted of 30 organic rice farmers selected using a purposive sampling method. This study employed a descriptive-analytical approach, supported by a t-test and Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression analysis. The results show that: (1) the level of organic manure fertilizer used by farmers is statistically higher than the recommended level; and (2) increases in farmland area, compost fertilizer price, and rice price increase the demand for manure fertilizer, while the manure fertilizer price decreases the demand for organic manure fertilizer.
