The Impact of Using Blended Learning to Improve Reading Comprehension

Abstract

This research aims to know the effectiveness of using blended learning model to improve reading comprehension at eleventh grade of SMAN 4 Purworejo. This research belonged to a quasi-experimental research. Instrument of the research was multiple choices test that consists of 40 numbers. The researcher took two groups of the students as the sample using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed by t-test. The result of the study showed that the mean score of experimental group was 78.33 and the mean of control group was 67.81. After the treatment, there was a significant difference in the students’ ability reading comprehension between students taught using blended learning and those without using blended learning. The final result of t-test analysis was t-value>t-table (7.454>1.994). In other words, the use of blended learning was effective to improve reading comprehension ability at the eleventh grade students of SMA N 4 Purworejo was effective.
